Community Activism With Successful People Who Care: Leadership Oakland
Leadership Oakland’s 2016-2017 Cornerstone Program began its partnership with MW-HAT in January to help combat human trafficking in Oakland County. We are excited to connect with this passionate team of 52 professionals from the region. They want to make a difference by putting their established leadership skills to use to fundraise and host a Day of Service Project on May 20, 2017. The fundraiser will help rehabilitate and furnish our second safe house in Pontiac, Michigan. This quad apartment home is located just two blocks from our first home and will accommodate 16 women.
Many will also be helping to promote our upcoming major fundraising event, Over the Edge, which will raise funds to launch our Magdalene program. There are over 1,200 Leadership Oakland Cornerstone alumni leaders from corporate, civic and non-profit organizations invited to support this year’s class in their Day of Service.
“Human Trafficking is a community problem everyone needs to help solve,” states Nancy Mauer, Executive Director for Leadership Oakland. “I am proud of this year’s class decision to help build awareness of this issue and provide needed support for the MW-HAT safe house and program.”
Receiving support from the organizations, communities and boards that these leaders are involved with will surely benefit MW-HAT’s mission for years to come.
Thank you for your generous support. You make it possible for us to bring
life-saving restoration to individuals affected by human trafficking in the Detroit area.
